Lacey Act Declaration Modifications Published

Dear Customers and Friends of Seajet!

Just when you thought you had finally figured out how to handle and deal with the requirements of the Lacey Act, the APHIS Department of the USDA has published changes.

On September 2, APHIS published numerous changes to the phased implementation of Lacey Act declaration requirements.

Numerous products were removed from the previously published requirements for phase III implementation, which begins on October 1.

A listing of products is provided in the Federal Register notice.

Of particular interest is a delay in requiring the identification of composite and recycled or reused materials, until no earlier than September 1, 2010.

Note also that phase IV, beginning on April 1, 2010, has been substantially revised.

The agency promises in the notice that "There will be no further additions to phases III or IV."

We have posted a copy of the Federal Register Notice pertaining to Implementation of Revised Lacey Act Provisions on the Seajet web site here:

I do hope there is something good in it for you!

Sincerely yours,
